So much rain

It's been hard to get back on track, but I was determined to get into the studio today; determined, too, to create something using white, black, and Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold.

Unfortunately I had two leftover palettes on the verge of drying out, so instead I smushed them onto an old re-gessoed canvas, using those colors and liberal amounts of white and water to achieve this one. I doubt it's done; doubt, too, that I'll ever attempt to sell it, but at least I painted something, and used some of the techniques I've been exploring. I suspect it's just a testament to how much rain has been dumped on us lately; wish we could send some of it down to Arizona to douse their fires!

This next week I'll be in a class about finding your personal painting style/joy; with any luck, something will get crystallized through that and the work will take another leap forward. Hey, a girl can dream!

In the meantime I'm dealing with worker bees in the house, an impending move, and escalating friendship drama... maybe this painting is just all about trying to keep my head above water...
